| | September 30th, 2013 Fairly level without obstructionsCompared to many sites here, this was fairly level and free from obstructions such as trees to deal with when parking the pop up. Fire pit is in a good location. Electrical box is a bit far away, so bring an extension cord. Fairly decent Lake Superior view through some trees. Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park - Site 073 September 30th, 2013 Nice wooded sitesSites are nice if you like the wooded feel without much sunlight. The shower and flush toilet facility is clean and comfortable feeling. It is located in the South Campground, so you basically need to drive from the North Campground to use it, but at least you get electrical at most sites in the North. There is only one electrical site (#57) in the South and it is not currently reservable. Not really any close things near the campgrounds for children, you have to drive closer to the falls. Speaking of the falls, they are beautiful. Take the time to hike Doughboys` Trail. Copper Falls State Park September 30th, 2013 Some pesty flies, but great views What a lovely drive in fall (Late Sept 2013) down the South Boundary Rd. Great view of the mountains and Lake Superior! Union Bay campground at this time of year is first come first serve, so difficult choice between sites. Many are unlevel and have barriers (trees and even some mechanical apparatuses) to negotiate. The biting flies were prevalent, but fortunately not hungry. Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park September 30th, 2013 Semi-secluded, but dirty and busyThis is a semi-secluded site in the first loop of the South Campground. Problem with this, however, is every vehicle that comes into the South Campground at night shines its headlights right into your site. Same happens on cars leaving, but not as bad. Would pick another site in the loop. We didn`t like the VERY FINE, almost powder like camping pad. We had to sweep out the trailer 4 or 5 times a day. Copper Falls State Park - Site 34 August 31st, 2013 Great tepee! What a great experience to camp in the park`s tepee! 6 cots included on a wood platform. Great site overlooking Mauthe Lake. Easy canoe access across the street. Reserved parking for the site, but have to walk/up down slight hill to get to the site. Very close water and pit toilet access.
