3 Star Rating  March 16th, 2014   Huge cottonwood tree provides shade
This is one of my favorite sites in this campground. It`s at the end of the road, it`s a large site, and there`s a shade tree! Add to that, the view from the picnic table looks out onto the prairie and not onto neighbors. The only downside is that if you look in the other direction, the neighbors are close by.

As others have mentioned, there are beautiful tipis scattered throughout the campground, which are available for camping.

3 Star Rating  March 16th, 2014   Edge of the campground, good prairie views
Most of the sites in this campground are in open prairie so you`ll be able to see other campers. This site is at the end of the road and therefore more private with a praire view.

5 Star Rating  March 15th, 2014   Site R23 is completely private, right on Lake Superior
This is one of the best sites for camping right on Lake Superior. It`s at the end of the loop, the camper is sheltered from the wind by low brushes and the view is lakefront. Completely private, surrounded by woods, short trails from the site lead to blueberry bushes (haven`t encountered any bears thankfully), and the picnic table is in a large open sunny area, right on the lake. If you`re a tent camper, there are numerous "perfect places" within the site to pitch a tent and be completely private. Last, the site has a huge fire ring in an open area, so late night fires by the lake are a must. The only downside - and this is true for the entire Rossport unit - is that this campground is right off the highway and RR. Therefore, at night, the noise is bothersome.

5 Star Rating  March 15th, 2014   Spectacular views of Lake Superior
Rainbow Falls Provincial park is divided into two units - Rossport (with lakefront sites on Lake Superior) and Whitesand Lake unit (with nicely spaced, wooded sites, some with a view of Whitesand lake). We`ve always camped in the Rossport unit, and love being right on Lake Superior. This is at the northern side of the lake, where the view includes several wooded islands. Camp here in late June - early July, and it`s twilight until almost 11 PM. We rate this campground as excellent because in the Rossport unit, most of the sites are right on the lake, and the views are spectacular. The hikes are interesting and somewhat challenging (Rainbow Falls, Back Forty, etc.,), and Whitesand Lake is remote and beautiful for canoeing and Kayaking. The only downside to the Rossport unit is that it is very close to the highway and RR tracks. At night, the semi trucks and trains are LOUD. In our minds, the view and privacy more than make up for the noise, which is only bothersome at night.

4 Star Rating  March 15th, 2014   Private site at the end of a loop
Really enjoyed site 65 because it`s a private site, neighbors on only one side, and they are a nice distance away. Therefore the site is relatively quiet for a large campground. The site is surrounded by trees and bushes, and located at the end of a loop. It`s a short walk to the facilities and to the trailheads. Be aware there are mosquitoes, but they are no more excessive than other wooded campgrounds. It rained while we were there, and this site was well drained; we didn`t notice any mud. Would definitely camp in this site again.
