2 Star Rating  February 22nd, 2016   Okay
It was okay for the rate ($10 for a non-electric site); Was a bit noisy due to proximity to the highway. No site privacy.

3 Star Rating  February 22nd, 2016   No Beach at Lakeside Beach
It`s a nice park with well-shaded sites, but don`t have any expectations of being able to set a foot into Lake Ontario - there is no beach (well there is a beach but you are not allowed to use it) and no swimming is enforced. Washroom buildings are outdated as well.

2 Star Rating  February 21st, 2016   It`s free so why not
If you`re just passing through, as we were, why not camp for free. No hook-ups and no showers but washrooms and water fountains. It was a bit noisy for us, road traffic and then many garbage trucks visiting early the next morning (this is also the town`s recycling drop-off locations). Probably best if you are staying in a motor-home or trailer. There is a dumping station for trailers as well.

3 Star Rating  February 21st, 2016   the Price is Right!
Passing through on US-2 and looking for a place to camp for the night; we spotted a sign advertising camping for $5 (non-electric) and stopped at the campground to have a look. Not really a vacation destination, but the perfect place to stay for the night while on your way. the campground is really just a dozen or so serviced sites (all sites have electricity, you pay more if you hook up) along the edges of the municipal property. There are shade trees but no real privacy. There a single washroom and another room with a shower. That`s all for facilities there. And bring cash, it`s the envelop/honors system for payment. The one downside is that this site is also the public works yard, so there were heavy vehicles coming and going early the next morning. That was okay with us since we needed to get up and get going. Other than that, it was a quite night and a good sleep.

4 Star Rating  September 24th, 2014   Good Value, Great Location
We decided to check out the Pymatuning reservoir and initially planned to camp at the Jamestown Campground (in PA) but decided to try the Andover Ohio campground instead and we’re glad we did. The switch was mostly due to availability (Jamestown site was pretty full whereas the Andover site had lots of availability), but we also saved around $4-6 per night which is always welcome. This is one of the best values that we’ve had so far for camping – for $24-$26 per night we got a pretty nice electric site (20A) with plenty of shade, fully paved roads including paved spurs (first time we’ve seen that), spacious hot showers (nice that they are not the type with timing values which keep shutting off on you), and a short walk to the lake. The washrooms were average, meaning they were concrete buildings with a few flush toilets and sinks, not modern but we’ve had worse. The same can be said for the shower buildings, they could use updating but we did appreciate the amount of space allotted for each shower stall (about twice as much as normal).
There are 3 camping areas in this park; we camped in Area 1 and found it to be generally lacking in privacy and the site to be somewhat bunched up together. That may have been an issue if the park was full, but even on a weekend in early August most sites in Area 1 were empty and so space and privacy were not a concern. Area 2 and 3 were much busier, maybe because they are closer to the “beach” (which is pretty small, but there is a great free beach near the Jamestown recreation area in PA), or because of services (30 or 50 amps, septic). All in all, the park was clean and very well maintain and the staff were friendly. We recommend this campground if you want to explore the Pymatuning area.
