The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW or BWCA), is a 1,090,000 acres wilderness area within the Superior National Forest in northeastern Minnesota under the administration of the U.S. Forest Service. The BWCAW is renowned as a destination for both canoeing and fishing on its many lakes and is the most visited wilderness in the United States.
This is a large area that is carefully preserved. Only canoes are allowed in and it's first come first serve on all the campsites. We went here for the first time this labor day weekend. I had heard a lot about the BWCA and always wanted to go. It was even more awesome than I had expected. It was so calm and peaceful. I can't wait to go back!
